Information for our Contestants

We're slowly but surely updating this page with important information for our Contestants. First off, there's lots of excitement about that fact that the Best Buck in the Bay Rodeo and Festival has added a camping option at the rodeo grounds for 2010. Please take a moment to check out our Camping Page for the latest on how we're handling camping.

August 16 Update

A very special thank you to all of the contestants who came out to join us for an awesome weekend in La Honda. We hope y'all had a great time, and we look forward to seeing y'all back for our next Best Buck in the Bay Rodeo and Festival.

August 6 Update

August 5 Update

The Board of Directors for the Golden State Gay Rodeo Association - Bay Area Chapter has decided to refund late fees for contestants that did not register by the July 30th deadline. You can read the complete details of this decision in our online Press Release.

August 3 Update

We have confirmed that we will be able to offer shavings for $8 a bag, and that folks with horses can arrive as early as 12noon on Friday afternoon.

July 30 Update

Today is the last day for contestants to register or face $50 in late fees.

The running order for events has also been announced:

Directions to Event Center:
From San Jose - take 280 north/101 north to HWY 92 west to HWY 1 (Half Moon Bay). South 12 miles to HWY 84 east 6 miles to Driscoll Ranch Event Center.

From San Francisco - take 101/280 south to HWY 92 west to HWY 1 (Half Moon Bay). South 12 miles to HWY 84 east 6 miles to Driscoll Ranch Event Center.

From East Bay - take HWY 92/ San Mateo Bridge west to HWY 1 (Half Moon Bay). South12 miles to HWY 84 east 6 miles to Driscoll Ranch Event Center.

July 27 Update

Camping Fees for Best Buck in the Bay Rodeo contestants has been reduced to $100 per camping space (tent, RV or horse trailer).

The contestants have spoken and have asked for discounted camping! As a result of contestant feedback, the Golden State Gay Rodeo Association - Bay Area Chapter is sponsoring Contestant Camping for the 2010 Best Buck in the Bay Rodeo and Festival. If you are an active member of an IGRA association and a contestant registered for the Best Buck in the Bay Rodeo, your camping rate for the weekend will be $100.00. This price covers camping fees only from Friday night through Sunday night, check out Monday.

Quick Tips/Questions and Answers:

Q: What if I am a contestant and already paid for camping?
A: You will be issued a rebate check for the difference, and it will be ready for pick up at Camping check in.

Q: What time is camping check in and check out?
A: Check in for camping will be 3:00 PM Friday, August 13, 2010. Check out will Monday, August 16, 2010 by 11:30 am.

Q: Does it matter if I am a contestant with a horse?
A: No, If you are competing at the Best Buck in the Bay Rodeo, all camping fees will be a flat $100 fee per space, regardless of events you enter.

Q: Can I have more then one person per camping space?
A: Yes, the $100 covers camping fees for up to 2 people per space (RV, Tent, and/or Horse Trailer Area). When ordering camping online, you must specify which area you want to camp in and the name(s) of additional people staying in your camping space.

Q: What if I have more then two people?
A: There will be a $35 dollar fee for each additional person, so a Horse Trailer spot with 4 people would only cost $170 for the entire weekend.

Q: Is there a maximum amount of persons per space?
A: Yes! For safety reasons, no more then 4 persons per space will be allowed.

Q: Why is the Best Buck in the Bay charging for camping?
A: Our facility fees went up this year, and the cost of showers went up as well. The minimal fees we are charging for camping will cover the additional fees.

Q: Is there a limit on the the number of camping spaces?
A: Yes! In fact, our tent camping area is almost sold out! We have 7 more spaces for RVs and a several more spaces for horse trailers.

Q: How do I make my reservations?
A: You can make your reservations online at our Rodeo Shop. Payment can me made with PayPal, however you don't need to have a PayPal account to pay using VISA or MasterCard.

We have confirmed that Winners Circle Western Wear in Antioch, CA, is donating two horse saddles to award to the All Around Cowboy and Cowgirl! Thank you Winners Circle!!!
